C&J BBQ AND SOUL FOOD - in Watertown, Wisconsin, USA

We have been here twice. Great place to go for BBQ meats! The brisket and pulled pork are the best in the area. We also had the cowboy beans, smoked Mac, and hush puppies. All were delicious as well. We plan on going back many more times.

Best smoked meat EVER!!! They know how to smoke meat!!! The collard greens are amazing!!!! We came in with a crew of 30ppl and they got us all served quickly and efficiently. Thank you so much! This is a hard place to find bc it’s in a little strip mall with a massage parlor and antique store attached.

Great food, nice prices and the portions were plentiful. Sides were tasty and the meat was smoked to perfection. Friendly countertop service with seating to enjoy. A definite go to when in Watertown.

Whatever they do in a kitchen, it's magic. I was Christmas shopping close by and found this place on Google. I was hesitant at first but let me tell you what, this place blew me away. I ordered about $30 in food alone because I wanted to try everything. And Im glad I did! The pulled pork was the star of the show, with the collard greens and macaroni being next. Everything was delicious, nothing was wasted. I took the leftovers home and the wife ate the rest without hesitation lol. Plan on visiting again very soon. Thank you for such a great meal. As I was exciting,I had a brief chat with the women up front and they were so welcoming and sweet. Takes me back down south to my roots where people are just so polite and kind. You dont find that much anymore up North. See ya soon for some more delicious food. Thank you

5 stars isn’t enough! This is the best BBQ & Soul Food on the planet! Everything is fresh and homemade. Meats are smoked to perfection, the collared greens, the best I’ve ever had, the hush puppies, so good! This is the kind of meal that can truly lift your spirits and make you say AMEN when it’s over. If everyone could eat this good, the world’s problems might just melt away, just like that jerk chicken and catfish melted in my mouth. The owners and staff are very friendly as well. I’m so happy they are willing to cook their generational family recipes for all to enjoy. I will tell everyone I know to eat here.

My husband and I finally had a night where we could go out and get some food together. That never happens these days. As small business owners ourselves, we have a thing for small businesses. Small businesses that are focused on what they offer and not on the fancy buildings and decor. Places like ours. Small businesses with the kind of people you know put their everything in all that they do. Their whole heart, all of it, into everything that represents them. Those are the small businesses we live to support. I remember seeing posts from this place when they were a food truck. Always wanted to pop over, never had the time/availability. Decided to look them up and saw they have a whole space now!!! How incredible, you know? To have come so far!!! To see the hard work and dedication and those late, sleepless nights turn grow bigger and bigger. To We dined in and I highly recommend doing that. I saw some other folks on Google complaining about the “atmosphere” not being what they expected but to be honest, we loved it. Places like this are never meant to be about the decor. The atmosphere was the energy, the food, the literal love and kindness you feel when you are nourishing your body. And, frankly, we wanted a bomb heckin’ meal and we got exactly that. My husband spent a good portion of time saying (muttering, really) swear words about how good the food is. I was legitimately cheering out loud for the majority of the time. (Cheering OUT LOUD with ABSOLUTELY NO SHAME ) Every bite was magic. A whole flavor party. A Whole Experience. Soul food is the best food because you just know the love that was put into it. (this is a hill I’m ready, willing, and prepared to die on) C.J's BBQ & Soul Food Catering: thank you to you and your whole staff for an outstanding meal. It was legitimately some of the absolute best food I’ve ever had (you could say I’m something of a food critic… read: I’m highly critical of food bc I’m painfully picky). Fantastic people staff, too!!! Super kind, super helpful, just… super everything. If you’re ever in Watertown, WI, you HAVE to come here. Or find a way to get this way because you truly need to experience an experience like this. This is the kind of place I hope that just explodes in popularity because man everything about it was exactly right What we had: •Smoke brisket w/ cowboy beans, smoke mac, and cornbread •Smoke chicken w/ collard greens and garlic fries AND THEN, we got food to go right away: •Jerk chicken w/ smoke Mac, cornbread, and potato salad (And my husband is already talkin’ about eating it tonight for snack ) 1000000000 outta ten (Judge my photos all you want. Really good food for sure but get it to go! We came in from out of town. Absolutely no atmosphere in the common area for eating. Gordon Ramsay would agree and have a field day making this place into a proper dining experience.

I came here with my sister to place an order to go, firstly I have to say the atmosphere is wonderful (would've loved to eat in if I didn't have other things to do) second- the food THE FOOD!!! Absolutely delicious! We ordered 3 separate dinners and everything was so good! It's a family owned business and the daughter who took our order was so sweet and helped us pick out her recommendations. I know this is long for a review but I really hope this stays in business because Watertown needs that good authentic soul food! Thank you C&Js, well definitely be back!
